Isolde ser Noche, after the return from deep space. The Virtuous War is just over, and the ser Noches have returned to the smoldering crater that is Taishijan, their ancestral fortress. Reconstruction efforts start up. Nora ser Noche is still nominally in charge of everything, but Isolde is the one with the actual power. In control of the house's treasury, she has everybody dancing as puppets on her strings.
